Professor Wang Jian is the chief physician of endocrinology department of Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital, a doctoral supervisor and an online evaluation expert of the National Natural Science Foundation, and has presided over and guided several projects of the National Natural Science Foundation.

Since joining the work, Director Wang Jian's consistent principle is "don't let patients spend money". He can explain the patient's questions concisely and vividly. "Because the patient is not a professional, it is useless to talk about endless theories, but what must be explained cannot be omitted." As a senior expert who has been focusing on endocrinology for more than 30 years, Professor Wang has made great achievements in the treatment of endocrine system diseases (thyroid diseases, diabetes, adrenal diseases, pituitary gonadal diseases, obesity, etc.). For a long time, he paid attention to those patients who suffered from difficult endocrine and metabolic diseases (thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy, polycystic ovary syndrome, neuroendocrine diseases, etc.), cared about their physical and psychological state, and successfully relieved more than 600 such patients. Professor Wang was therefore called "a doctor worthy of patients' trust".

His main research interests are: thyroid diseases, thyroid eye diseases, juvenile diabetes, stress and endocrine metabolism. He has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation and other provincial and above topics, and has trained more than 40 doctoral and master students. He has published more than 200 papers as the first author or correspondent at home and abroad, and has edited more than 10 academic monographs. He was invited to participate in the writing of the 7th and 8th editions of the academic masterpiece "Manual of Molecular and Clinical Laboratory Immunology" published by American Society for Microbiology (ASM), and won more than 10 scientific and technological progress awards and medical achievement awards at or above the provincial and ministerial levels.

He is good at diagnosis and treatment of difficult endocrine and metabolic system diseases, including diabetes and its complications, thyroid diseases, thyroid-associated ophthalmopathy (exophthalmos), pituitary diseases, gonadal endocrine diseases, adrenal diseases, polycystic ovary syndrome, obesity, hypokalemia and gout.

He graduated from the Fourth Military Medical University with a master's degree in endocrinology. From 2003 to 2006, he worked as a postdoctoral visiting scholar at Barbara Davis Diabetes Center in the United States. Since 1990, he has successively served as the attending physician, deputy director, deputy chief physician, department director and chief physician in the endocrinology department of the Eastern Theater General Hospital (formerly Nanjing General Hospital of Nanjing Military Region), professor of Nanjing University, Southern Medical University and Second Military Medical University, and tutor of doctoral or master's students.

From 2016 to present, he has served as the chief physician and director of endocrinology department of Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital.
