Our Geriatric Center has been listed as the Institute of Geriatric Medicine at Nanjing University School of Medicine

On December 7th, the unveiling ceremony of the Institute of Geriatrics at Nanjing University School of Medicine was successfully held at the Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital affiliated with Nanjing University School of Medicine. Shen Sunan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nanjing University School of Medicine, Wang Hongwei, Vice Dean, and Zou Xiaoping, Dean of our hospital, led members of the hospital's leadership team to attend. Secretary Shen Sunan and Dean Zou Xiaoping jointly unveiled the plaque for the Institute of Geriatric Medicine, and the ceremony was presided over by Bai Feng, Vice Dean and Director of the Geriatric Center of our hospital.

The establishment of the Institute of Geriatric Medicine marks the further deepening of the "institutional cooperation" between our hospital and Nanjing University School of Medicine, forming a new situation of interdisciplinary research, resource integration, and high integration of industry, academia, and research in the field of aging. Our hospital will take this as an opportunity, guided by the needs and key clinical issues of elderly patients, and focus on researching specialized diseases and home smart healthcare systems for the elderly. Through the transformation of scientific research results, we aim to benefit more patients.

Zou Xiaoping, Dean of Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital affiliated with Nanjing University School of Medicine, pointed out in his speech that the Geriatric Center, as a strategic discipline of the hospital, has achieved a series of outstanding results with the strong support of leaders at all levels of Nanjing University School of Medicine since its establishment. This listing as the Institute of Geriatric Medicine at Nanjing University School of Medicine is not only a recognition of the team's enterprising spirit, but also an affirmation of the university's further close cooperation.

Dean Zou Xiaoping also stated that in the future, our Geriatric Center will continue to deepen its scientific research and teaching cooperation with Nanjing University School of Medicine, actively explore new models of multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment services, and provide better and more efficient medical services for elderly patients. At the same time, using the Institute of Geriatric Medicine at Nanjing University School of Medicine as a carrier, we will strengthen academic research and talent cultivation, comprehensively showcase the latest achievements and beneficial experiences in the field of geriatrics, and contribute our due strength to the regional health cause.

Wang Hongwei, Vice Dean of the School of Medicine at Nanjing University, congratulated the establishment of the Institute of Geriatrics, stating that China is currently transitioning from a mildly aging society to a moderately aging society. The decline in elderly function, coexistence of multiple diseases, and underlying social values have led to the complexity of geriatric medicine, and geriatric research is timely. The Institute of Geriatrics at Nanjing University School of Medicine will focus on clinical needs and scientific research innovation, creating a leading aging research platform and team in China, and bringing more benefits to the lives and health of the general public.

Vice Dean Wang Hongwei also looked forward to future platform cooperation, stating that the Institute of Geriatrics should fully leverage the respective strengths of both institutions to assist the Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital Geriatric Center in talent cultivation, scientific research, and medical services.

The establishment of the Geriatric Research Institute is an important step in our hospital's exploration of new mechanisms for institutional cooperation. Our hospital will work together with Nanjing University School of Medicine to focus on key diagnostic and treatment technologies and their pathogenesis for elderly diseases such as digestive system tumors, cognitive impairment, and heart failure. At the same time, focusing on key technologies and practical applications of community-based elderly care and health services, exploring new models of smart elderly care, providing new ideas and methods for monitoring and warning of elderly health data, health interaction management, and integrated services of home medical care and elderly care, and adding bricks and tiles to the elderly medical industry.

Based on the era of longevity, Taikang Xianlin Drum Tower Hospital has partnered with Taikang Home · Suyuan to launch the 3.0 model of medical and elderly care integration. At the beginning of next year, with the official operation of the second phase of the hospital, Taikang Xianlin International Medical and Nursing Park will also make a brand new appearance.

Starting from a new starting point, our Geriatric Center will use the Institute of Geriatrics at Nanjing University School of Medicine as a new research platform to inject new connotations into the exploration of new models of medical and elderly care integration in the park, and promote innovation and development in the field of geriatrics.
