The Blood Transfusion Department of Taikang Xianlin Gulou Hospital was established in 2018 and is a blood storage point of the Nanjing Red Cross Blood Center. In addition to being responsible for clinical blood collection, blood supply, transfusion related technical testing, and clinical blood consultation within the hospital, as well as promoting laws and regulations related to voluntary blood donation and transfusion, it also undertakes the task of providing emergency blood support for nearby small medical institutions. The department currently has 6 staff members, including 1 senior professional title, 2 intermediate professional titles, and 3 junior professional titles. The department has functional rooms such as transfusion compatibility testing laboratory, blood storage room, and treatment room in the first and second phases of the hospital, equipped with fully automatic blood type analyzer, thromboelastography instrument, blood cell component separator, dedicated blood storage refrigerator, and other instruments and equipment. At present, the department routinely carries out experimental projects such as ABO/Rh blood type identification, irregular antibody testing, blood type antibody potency testing, difficult cross matching tests, thromboelastography testing, as well as therapeutic blood cell collection (platelet rich plasma collection), plasma exchange testing, and other treatment projects.
